On May 5 at Boston the five classes, '01 through '05, had a grand reunion with 66 men present, including 11 members of '02.
A1 Dalrymple came in from Wellesley where he plans to enjoy life. Louis Dow was there looking pink and fit though he has recently had a fractured skull. Louis is still interested in real estate and banking with hospitals, and community interests very much in his day's work. He loves the sea and boats but has to limit his activities pretty close to Buzzard's Bay nowadays. His two sons naturally took to the Navy.
Percy Dorr was wearing a big badge of Police Commissioner and personally conducted Beezle Parker, Chief Justice Keniston and me across the Common to our hotel after the meeting. Percy is still active in the investment business and everything else in Springfield. Beezle is very busy in the insurance business in Reading and Judge Keniston is sitting pretty with a life job in the Boston Municipal Court.
Ralph Taylor consulted me about eating Lobster Thermidor after his operation for ulcer and we finally compromised on chicken, as Art Ruggles agreed with me. Art looks well and rugged and is still doing a grand job running the Butler Hospital. His daughter Ann is a lieutenant in the Waves and his son a lieutenant in the Army in England.
We were all especially delighted to see "William the Silent" Hall who hasn't grown garrulous, but has developed a very affable smile and we hope will come again. He is growing apples up in New Hampshire.
William Carroll Hill is very happy running the New England Genealogical Society and has a fine office with twenty-two charming secretaries at his beck and call. "Tommie" Thompson came down from Shirley, Mass., where the war has driven him back into a very busy practice, but he seems very chubby and his old jovial self.
The speaker of the evening was our classmate Prof. Ernest Watson who told us about the Navy in Hanover and we were all proud of him as a speaker and particularly of the sense of humor that "Watty" has developed through the years.
Your secretary has had two major operations on himself the past year, the last one March 30, and just made the meeting, but thanks to "Midge" Reid, who generously set up the drinks to all comers, I came through with flying colors. I want to thank those who have written me such splendid letters recently and still hope to hear from all of you.
Secretary, 7 Ship Channel Rd., South Portland, Me.
