ALREADY A FEW NEW YORK noses are turned aloft sniffing for the first scent of snow. This season it looks very much as though some of the snow-hounds of yesteryear would be back with the rather creaky mongrels who have been carrying on these last few winters. Ex-Prex Bleecker Ripsom has already cast aside the khaki and leaped back into the traces as our delegate to the U. S. Eastern Amateur Ski Association convention, held this fall at Bear Mountain, that haven for the hoi polloi where non-New Yorkers commonly assume that we all ski. Dick Rocker and Alex Jones of the Tenth Mountain Division have dropped in on their leaves but not yet returned as free men. Major Larry Lougee's last card in August was from Norway, boasting of "8 days of swell summer skiing with Norway's No. 1 skier, Tomm Murstad. We were guests of the Norwegian Government. The snow was fine and I picked up a lot of color. We tried a little salmon fishing and mountain climbing, too I'm now sitting in on the Quisling trial. He's defending his own case and is pretty shrewd." Not shrewd enough, tho', eh Larry?

The DOCNY war-time Steering Committee, augmented by Rip, will continue to hold the club alive this winter, and hope to arouse enough interest to have a full-fledged organization with officers 'n' everything a year hence. We have renewed our USEASA membership and would like to be able to field a team in the first revival of the N. Y. City Interclub Races on February 9-10 at Big Bromley, Manchester, Vt.

Those of you who have belonged before and particularly those younger alumni who are just getting established in New York are urged to join. By sending one dollar to the under- signed, you will be duly enrolled and receive all future Club communications.
