BOB STRONG '24, Dartmouth Dean of Freshmen was our guest speaker at a special dinner meeting on April 25. We met at the University Club, Milwaukee. About 40 attended, among whom were Dartmouth families and future students.
The college was well represented in Jonathan Strong, class of about "55—who furnished the toastmaster with some revealing "off the record" facts about his illustrious dad. (If you want to get the lowdown on these after-dinner speakers—see their eleven-year old sons!) We're just kidding—and we want Bob to know that we enjoyed his and John's visit a lot. In fact it was refreshing to see such bubbling enthusiasm for Dartmouth. Wish we could "emote" as naturally. But he was a good boy, Dorothy, so don't worry about him!
Dean Strong visited several o£ the high schools in the city, including Riverside, Milwaukee University School, and Country Day. Jack Ryan 'll, recently reelected president of the Milwaukee School Board, accompanied Bob on his good-will tour while in Milwaukee. Dean Strong le£t that night for the Twin Cities where we hope he carried our greetings to Whitney Eastman.
Among those who attended the Milwaukee meeting from out of town were Alan P. Jones 'l9 (Jones Pork Sausages); William and Bob Waterman, Ft. Atkinson, Wis.; Merwin (Swede) Swenson '23, Sheboygan; Dr. Harvey A. Tarbell '7B, Watertown, S. Dakota; and Hal Clarke 'l7 representing the Chicago association.
It was voted that we postpone the election of officers until a later meeting.
