Prof. Ralph Barton Perry, of Harvard, in his thin book of small dimensions, advocating an Old Age Movement, starts it with the following quotation:
"King David and King Solomon Lived merry, merry lives, With many, many lady friends And many, many wives. But when old age crept over them With many, many qualms King Solomon wrote the Proverbs King David wrote the Psalms."
Prof. Perry cited the various Youth Movements and argued that it was about time for the aged to show what they could do by way of offset.
So I started an Old Age Movement while in Washington two years ago. I am its President, Wallis '94 is Treasurer and Prof. George A. Ross, an alumnus of William Jewell College, is Secretary. The membership has not yet increased. It still remains three. It's time to increase it.
I nominate the following Class Secretaries:— William D. Parkinson '7B, Rev. Clifford H.Smith '79, Samuel S. Perry 'BO, William B.Greeley '81, Alfred E. Watson '83, William J.Starr '84 Henry H. Austin '85, William P.Kelly '86, Stanley E. Johnson '87, William W.Lougee '88, Ralph S. Bartlett '89, James B.Reynolds '90, Frank E. Rowe '91, Arthur M.Strong '92, Willard G. Aborn '93, Rev. CharlesC. Merrill '94. This brings the nominations to a halt at the Class of 1895, although I'm minded to include '96, '97 and '98 our contemporaries; but before increasing the list of candidates it seems wise to give those here nominated an opportunity to elect themselves. Every one of the above nominees is older than Solomon was when he was gathered unto his fathers.
