HERE & THERE: Just a few days ago we received a handsome little folder from the Carolina Mountain Shop, Cashiers, N. C., explaining in a pleasant easy style about the fine buys a guy can make in hooked rugs, hooked mats, hooked seat covers, handweavings and handbags. Imagine our surprise when we noticed that the owners and proprietors of the shop are none other than old Hank Conkle and spouse Roy White has recently been appointed assistant advertising manager of the American Express Cos., and celebrated the promotion by sailing for France where he will prepare summer literature for company offices. Roy has scheduled his return to the good old USA for March 28th via the S.S. America. .... The Waterbury Republican tells us that Danny Hull, editorial writer for The American, was selected by the American Press Institute to attend the editorial writers' seminar beginning Jan. 29 at Columbia University. Danny was one of eight newsmen throughout the country to be selected for this four-week course Roy Allen is currently doing all his doctoring for Uncle Sam's Navy in Newport, R. 1., but come July 1, he'll be off on a residency in medicine at the Hartford Hospital, Hartford, Conn. Stumpy may be a Doctor to the Navy, but he's husband to Jean O'Brien Allen, and father to Susan Elizabeth (4) and Barbara Jean (2) WaylandAvery and wife Genevieve are basking in that famed California sun in South Pasedena where Ave is the Assistant Controller with Milliron's, Los Angeles, Calif., a department store.

Well sir—he is one of the "habeas corpus" men with McLane, Davis & Carleton, apparently located in Manchester, N. H Putting one thing after another, as long as we have broached the subject of law, why not a word about Bill Buge? Bill is an Associate Lawyer with Beckman, Healy, Newby & Hough, a Chicago firm. Beyond that he is single, which means that the girls from hometown Barrington haven't made the grade yet—but give them time, give them time. .... The Assistant General Manager of Mitchell & Smith, manufacturers of cork products, is none other than Ralph (Champo)Champney. Champ, wife Charlotte, and three-year old Sally can be reached at Box 208, Rt. No. a, Norfolk, Va Beech Chapin is doing a bit of doctoring up Batavia, N. Y. way Colin Churchill is at Johns Hopkins University where we presume he is fulfilling administrative rather than educational pursuits.
Bud and 800 Clifford can be found in Upper Montclair, New Jersey, tending out on sons Buzz and Jimmy. In his "spare" time, Cliff is an engineer with the American Tel. & Tel. Cos Jack Cook is the Assistant District Mgr. of the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the U. S. in the Easton, Md., office. Cookie has two sons, Lee (7) and John Jr. (8 mos.) Roy Demmon is mixed up with lime and limestone in the form of the Kelley Island Lime & Transport Cos., Cleveland, Ohio Fred Fiigon can give a '39er a few tips on what to put in your house if you are lucky enough to have one. Fred is the manager of the furnishing department of E. E. McMeen Cos. Inc., and is living in Lewiston, Pa. with wife Jane and young Miss Gaby (aged one and a half) Jack Jacob is connected with Andrews, Kurth, Campbell & Bradley, attorneys, in Houston, Texas..... Jack Leslie is the District Sales Mgr. for Permanente Products Cos. (Kaiser affiliate) operating out of Oakland, Calif. For the records, Jack has a son James Hamilton (2) and of course a wife, Audrey Richards Leslie.
DOWN THE AISLE: Chuck Maher married Irene Patricia Earing on November 16 at Coral Gables, Fla. Irene attended Colby Junior College in the hills of New Hampshire. Chuck has recently been appointed to the post of District Traffic Manager for Pan American World Airlines, in Cuidad Trujillo, Dominican Republic The New York pa- pers tipped us off to the engagement of DocJessup and Elizabeth Anne Collins of Garden City, N. Y. No word on marriage plans included.
FOLLOWING THE STORK: Wolf Naylor gaily announces the arrival of Wolf Junior (Winford Caldwell Naylor Jr.) on Dec. 16. With two wolves in the house, Mother Cynthia and daughter Ruth have a hard road, to hoe. Wolf, incidentally is a "zoom-boy" with Eastern Airlines out of Miami, Fla Johnny and pretty Ellen Page added Jonothan Roy Page to their accomplishments on September 10, just one day and four years after the arrival of sister Frances Jane. Johnny is going through the usual training sprouts with the Neergaard, Miller & Cos., an investment firm. .... Bill W. Winchester II put in an appearance on September 31st, to become the first child to Doctors Bill and Elsie Winchester. Father Bill is presently working at the Mayo Clinic (which seems well fortified with medical '39ers) and for all we know Mama Elsie might be pursuing a bit of medicine herself at the Clinic We just received a note from Jim and Jane Fuller announcing the arrival of Pamela Cowell Fuller on January 29. She makes No. 2 in the Fuller family. Fulsy is selling space with the American Druggist Magazine, an important cog in the vast Hearst Publications Network Tom and Joy Hine were tickled to death upon the birth of Tom Hine Jr. who arrived on November 12 in Hartford, Gonn. Tom is con- nected with the A. C. Hine Cos., sellers of Pontiac automobiles in the Capitol City of Connecticut.
