Enrollment Unchanged

THE SECOND SEMESTER of Dartmouth's 178 th academic year opened on February 19 with little or no change in the total enrollment of 2,822 men who started off the year in October. Approximately 250 seniors were expected to complete the fouryear course following February final examinations, while new students and returning veterans were expected to total 249 men.

Of the latter figure, 133 are new students, including 27 admitted with advanced standing. This figure- also breaks down into 97 men newly admitted and 36 men previously admitted but kept from entering because of military service. Returning veterans, readmitted through the Special Committee on Academic Adjustments, number 116 men for the second term.

Because of the conflict between outgoing students remaining over for Carnival, February 14-16, and incoming students who were supposed to register and take over their rooms the same weekend, the opening of the second semester was pushed back two days, from February 17 to the 19th, and registration for all students was correspondingly delayed.
