HERE & THERE: Your secretary took a final fling early in February before settling down to the arduous duties of a staff artist in the King Features Syndicate, N. Y. C. The fling took the form of a happy ten days wallowing about up to the hunkers in two feet of a fluffy white powder snow at Mont Tremblant. And who should be on hand for a bit of wallowing also, but old Bill Risley and wife Mary. Bill was taking a few weeks of deserved "relaxation" from his duties with American Airlines where he is an important cog in the international branch. Recent report has him temporarily in Nice, France, where it is presumed he is doing a nice chunck of business. As far as Tremblant goes, Ris lined himself up modestly in the beginners' ski. class and in four days he landed in the advance class where he made life miserable for Pro Johnny Fripp by chasing him all over the hills in death defying runs down the "Flying Mile." .... If you happen to be a subscriber or casual reader of the RadioMirror, I'm sure you noticed the page spread, complete with pictures, of Les Smith, radio quizmaster, director of special events and sports commentator. One picture shows Les "grilling" toughman George Raft, and then there is a homey shot of Les, wife Mildred, and four-month-old Deborah Jane. The piece itself suggests that Les is mighty handy with the "Ad-lib" and on two or three occasions has carried on an impromptu performance for as much as an hour, while waiting for some celebrity or other to put in a scheduled performance.

Should you be hankering to learn a bit about which type of liquor is a good buy these days, just put your questions up to the Sales Supervisor of the L. C. DOWN THE AISLE: We learned of a blooming romance between Howie Chivers and Jane Gile (daughter of Doctor and Mrs. John Gile of Hanover fame) some months ago, but it was not until the New York Times reported the engagement that we dared put it into print. The wedding is scheduled for June. Howie is now at West Point teaching the cadets how to ski, among other things.

THE CLEARING HOUSE: TWO matters requiring class action are now being considered by our executive committee. Turning the column into an open forum for a moment, the executive committee and your class officers will welcome any comments from the members of the class concerning the following: 1) The Dartmouth Parents Committee recommendation "that fathers of Dartmouth men killed in the war be made honorary members of their son's classes" was accepted by the Alumni Council at its Chicago meeting. Our class has been officially notified of this decision and it has been requested by the Recommending Body that we inform them of "whatever action the class decides to take." 2) Your secretary has proposed that the class make a gift to the Baker Library of books, in commemoration of the seventeen classmates who lost their lives in the recent war. These books would not be the ordinary variety for the stacks, but rather rare, or first editions, to go in the Treasure Room and to bear a suitable engraved '39 Memorial Plaque listing the names of the men. The Library has been contacted and have furnished helpful information in the event that we definitely decide to make the presentation. During the war years, due to the somewhat "unstable" condition of our "officialdom" we were, I am afraid, extremely lax in passing on the proper words of sympathy to the parents and families of the men lost. It would appear that the above outlined plan might be a small token of the sympathies that each of us feel, but have as yet to express adequately.
