Best Class Secretary
July 1947

The award for the best class secretary of 1947 was bestowed upon Andrew Marshall 11, secretary-chairman of 1922 for the past ten years, at the annual dinner of class and club officers in Hanover on May 17. In making the award, Sidney C. Hayward '26, Secretary of the College, read the following citation:

Ten years ago the affairs of the Class of '22 were not in perfect order. Key men in the class started a movement to draft Andy Marshall, who was drafted and began a long-term program of reorganizing and strengthening the class. The intervening years, through two terms of office as secretary-chairman, have not been easy ones for the man we honor in respect to getting his big Dart- mouth job accomplished. But every year has seen improvement and now he can point to a spectacular record of achievement.

192 a will celebrate its 25th reunion next month. Fran Leland is reunion chairman and says there will be 300 people present, which may be a record for any 25-year class.

Bill Bullen is chairman of '22's Class Memorial Fund which already amounts to more than $25,000, and '22 will break the record for 25th Reunion gifts to the College.

Eric Malmquist, class treasurer, operates a highly successful dues campaign every year and all graduates and many non-graduates receive the ALUMNI MAGAZINE every month through the group subscription plan.

In the midst of all this activity, Stan Miner 'a, class agent, maintains a fine record for the Alumni Fund.

The secretary-chairman has developed and coordinated this splendid achievement in all phases of class activity. Another and not unimportant achievement is his perfect record of promptness in meeting that loth-of-the- month deadline for the ALUMNI MAGAZINE.

The Marshall family would fill several pages in a Who's Who in Dartmouth. According to our records, our prize winner is the son and brother of Dartmouth men, he is the nephew of six Dartmouth's in the family, the grandnephew of three alumni, the cousin of seven Dartmouth men, and he is also a relative of Eleazar Wheelock!

A copy of the Ticknor Print and our congratulations to Dartmouth's ClassSecretary of the Year, Andrew Marshall II.
