SEPTEMBER OPEN HOUSE FOR UNDERGRADUATES—FoIIowing a custom started last year all weekly luncheons in September are "open house" for the boys who are on their way to Hanover. Setting aside several Wednesdays makes it possible for all undergraduates returning to Hanover, early or late, to attend and see first-hand a typical alumni group in action. A sample of attendance this year is reflected in the photo on this page showing most of the group attending on September 15. They are from left to. right (sitting), Doug Smith '50. Jack Shuman '52, Peter Irving '50, Prof. Dan Marx '29, from Hanover, Bob Tomfohrde '51, Herman Christensen '51, Roger Harrison '52 (Standing), Wilson '13, McCullough '31, Cohen '37, Macey '3B, Des Marias '26, White '41, Young '17, Campbell '12, Crowell '29, Redington '41, Winslow '20, Tomfohrde '15, Dave Smith '35, Baer '17, L. A. Lehman, guest of Prof. Marx, Livingston '15, Wilbee '42, Alan Winslow '49, Allen '33, Vines '39, Harrison, father of Roger '52, Howland '34—and we are all looking at Ritchie Smith '26 snapping Al Winslow's camera. Also in the foreground you will note our trophies which further inspire attendance at weekly luncheons throughout the year; a replica of the tower on Old Dartmouth Hall and in the little green pedestal, a sliver from certain goal posts brought back to San Francisco by Ritchie Smith in '935 after witnessing the end of the "Yale Jinx."

Notice to Alumni: See you at the Wednesday luncheons throughout the year, St. Juliens, 140 Battery St., San Francisco, 12 Xoon.

YALE-STANFORD BASKETBALL GAME—We are invited to sit in with the Yale group when their basketball team meets Stanford on Tuesday evening, December 21, 1948, Cow Palace, San Francisco. All undergraduates home for the holidays and alumni are promised front row seats by the Yale secretary, Palmer York Jr. Also there may be a little celebration after the game for those interested.

CHRISTMAS PARTY HONORING COACH DE ORMOND "Tuss" MCLAUGHRY—Tuss will be in San Francisco with the East's football squad in preparation for the East-West Shrine game New Year's Day. He will be our guest at dinner on the evening of December 28, Marine Memorial Club. On this occasion wTe shall also welcome the undergraduates home for Christmass. This will be a good opportunity for the alumni to bring along high school boys interested in going to Dartmouth. Save the date!

And at the regular Wednesday luncheon the following week we are inviting Tuss to tell us about all we missed at the Shrine game because there are no tickets left.

Secretary, 140 New Montgomery St., San Francisco 5, Cal.
