SPRING has come to Hanover. The duck boards have been removed. The grass is getting green. The windows of Tuck Hall long closed against the wintry blasts are open for the breeze to come in. We wish you were here.

Plans are afoot for our commencement exercises. A committee of the faculty under the chairmanship of Karl Hill is in earnest conference with a like committee of the Class of Tuck '48. We understand that there will be caps and gowns (and hoods?). Following the precedent of last year, it is the desire of the class to have the ceremony on the lawn just south of Stell Hall. The weatherman favored us last year. Can we count on him a second time? We will report to you in detail next month on our plans.

Dean Olsen attended the Inter-Professions Conference on Education for Professional Responsibility held at Buck Hill Falls, Pa., April 12-15. He was one of the six representatives of collegiate schools of business. Six to ten persons represented each of the fields of law, medicine, divinity, and engineering. The major objective was to find ways and means of improving education for the professions. The conference was sponsored by the Carnegie Foundation.

Prof. Karl Hill attended the Third Annual Time Study and Methods Conference at the Hotel Pennsylvania on April 8 and 9. The Conference was sponsored by the Society for the Advancement of Management and the Management Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Professor Wellman was ill during the month of March but is back on the job again trying to find one man for three or four openings.

We report with deep sorrow the death of Mrs. Thea Burleigh, wife of N. G. (Nat) Burleigh, on April 3. It was a great personal shock to all of us in Hanover and at the School. Having lived the greater part of her life in Hanover, she had a host of friends who mourn her loss. All graduates of the past thirty years will remember her kindly personal interest in them and in all activities of the Tuck School.

Prof. Albert W. Frey has been appointed to the Editorial Board of The Journal of Marketing.
