FORMAL OBSERVANCES marking the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Dartmouth Medical School, third oldest in the U.S., will be held July 22-24 on the campus. The three-day Sesquicentennial Celebration will open Thursday evening, July 22, with a reception in Baker Library. The address of welcome will be given by Dean Rolf C. Syvertsen '18. Dr. Frederic P. Lord '98, Professor of Anatomy, Emeritus, will speak on "Fifty Years of Teaching" and Leon B. Richardson '00, New Hampshire Professor of Chemistry, will give an historical address.

On both Friday and Saturday mornings, July 23 and 24, there will be exhibits, clinical rounds, inspection trips and demonstrations in the laboratories.

Following a reunion luncheon Friday noon at the Outing Club House, a series of discussions, with Dean Syvertsen presiding, will be held on the "Dartmouth Medical School Today."

Speakers at a Hanover Inn banquet Friday evening will be Dr. Creighton Barker '13M of New Haven, Conn., secretary of the Connecticut Medical Society, who will speak on "Nathan Smith"; and Prof. Allen R. Foley '20, who will give a talk on "Vermont Humor."

A barbecue has been tentatively schedued for Saturday noon as the final event of the program.

November 22, 1797, which is believed to be the date of Dr. Nathan Smith's first lecture on the Dartmouth campus, has been taken as the founding date for the Dartmouth Medical School. Formal observance of the 150th anniversary was postponed until this summer.
