Several events worthy of note occurred since the last report.

Last May 27 a party was held at the Cleveland Municipal Stadium for the successful applicants to this year's freshman class. An informal supper was held in Tower B of the Stadium, followed by the attendance of alumni and prospective freshmen at the night baseball game between Cleveland and Chicago. Alumni had the opportunity to meet the successful applicants and to help in having these applicants make Dartmouth the college of their choice. Twenty-five successful applicants for the Class of 1953 in this area attended the party, and all but one of these applicants had made Dartmouth College their choice and will be in Hanover this fall. We believe this year's group of freshmen from the Cleveland area to be outstanding and credit for this achievement must be given to Eb Cockley '40, Dave Johnson 35 and Scott Rogers '4.0, our Freshmen Admissions Committee. We hope to place in operation this fall a system under which representatives of the Cleveland Club will go into all high schools and preparatory schools in this area to lay the foundation for another outstanding group of applicants.

The Annual Picnic of the Dartmouth Club of Cleveland was held on Saturday, June 25, on the estate of Jim Rutherford '24. Almost 100 attended and all who could climb the hill participated in the baseball game. It would be unfair to single out individual performances. Suffice it to say that all but the

umpires had a wonderful time. Bob Conway '42 is to be congratulated for his handling of the affair.

The Executive Committee of the Club for the coming year consists of Ed Sprankle 30 Nelson Ranney '30, Bruce Eaken '26, HalNewell '4l, and the officers. We regret to announce the departure for the west coast of our newly elected Vice President, GreggSwarthout '30.

WHY THEY GOT UP AT 4 A.M.: Southern Californians made no fishbones about the early departure hour necessary for their off-shore sporting on August 27. It was the Club's second annual fishing party and was again a great success.
