"FRESHMEN UP"—I have just returned from the Regular Weekly Luncheon at St. Julien's and what I saw there is reassuring that the old Dartmouth spirit is now all that the "good old days" ever claimed—freshmen eager to be on their way to Hanover and most of them going early to take in the D.O.C. trip prior to registration. These boys have cleared the hurdles of selective, processing and this was their last chance to change their minds, really the true test, a sizing-up of the alumni in action, and they are still eager to go. Possibly they feel that they can do better than what they saw, a sort of challenge?

SECRETARY'S TRIP TO HANOVERMuch has happened in association activity this summer, but the most important to the Secretary, naturally, was the trip to Hanover in June. Through the generous financing by our members, spark-plugged by that Regular Bob Leavens 'Ol, the Secretary's expenses were paid round-trip, first-class, and what a trip it was for the Winslow family. Four days in Hanover and our son Alan's graduation. Visits across the United States with old friendsDartmouth c|ubs varying from the one-man size seasonal affarrtleep in the Black Hills of South Dakota, founded by genial Troy Parker 'll, to the larger size in Minneapolis with St. Paul lending a big hand on attendance. Space does not permit a proper account of the trip here and we just have not the time to write a book. The details will long be remembered, however, and our feelings are all wrapped up in those two big words THANK. YOU.

FAMILY PlCNlC—Sunshine, good food, beer, and swimming made up the bulk of an enjoyable day at Castle Rock Park, May 21. The main attraction was "limbering up ' the baseball team for competition at the Ivy League Stag Picnic. President Bob White '41 handled this deal with the assistance of classmates Nick Carter and Dave Smith '35, and the over 50 alumni and families in attendance proves this affair in as an "Annual."

BE PREPARED-Big joint meeting of Dartmouth and Cornell for play-by-play reports, November 12, 1949; possibly Yale, October 29. Check in at the regular Wednesday luncheons and keep informed.
