The end of the summer in Washington (Thank God!) finds the Dartmouth Family of, roughly, the same composition as did the beginning. And, after a summer such as the one we have just experienced, that is something to be thankful for. As hot as illicit love, and probably as wearing.

There has been bright spots, however. The Club held a smoker at the Hotel Willard in June, to which were invited the successful applicants for admission to the Class of 1953 and their fathers. After brief talks by President "Hub" Harwood '26, Fred Pierce '12, and JoeSullivan '49, everyone in attendance settled down to refreshments, and conversations concerning Hanover and the Big Green.

On July 10 the Club held its annual picnic at the farm of John English '40, and the hundred some who were fortunate enough to make it had as swell a time as we all had the years before. The Softball game gave the disappointed big leaguers an opportunity to try once more to convince themselves that things might have been different under other circumstances (and to tell their office associates that that stiff gait was caused by participation in a ball game). The various wives enjoyed getting acquainted, and the youngsters enjoyed the beer, ice cream and pop which were provided.

Our summer luncheons have been informal, without a prearranged speaker, and well attended. Hal Leich '29 will shortly notify the membership who the speakers at our coming luncheons will be, and we hope that all who can will attend. Tuesdays, at 12:30 P.M. at the New Athens. The price is only one buck, so if you haven't yet been intrigued by the opportunity of visiting again with Dartmouth men whom you have known, or meeting some new ones, think of your budget, and drop around for the next luncheon.
