The death of Walter Sullivan, following within a year the death of Henry Blair, has dealt another heavy blow to (he few of us left. "Sully," as he was affectionately known by classmates, and quite generally by undergraduates of our time, maintained an active interest in his Class and in the College up to the time of his death. He rarely failed to attend class reunions. He gathered with classmates in Hanover at Commencement time in off-years. He was there in June 1946, again in June 1948. It was a bitter disappointment to him when enfeebled health prevented his coming to Hanover last June to join the seven of the nine living graduates gathered there for their sixty-year reunion. His unforgettable smile, his unfailing good humor endeared him to the hearts of all who knew him. His InMemoriam appears in this issue.

Mrs. David N. Blakely has sold her home at 16 Beech Road, Brookline, Mass., where she has lived since she and David in early married life began living there more than 30 years ago. In October she will go to Andover, Mass., to make her future home with her daughter Elizabeth and her husbar.d, Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Taylor, at 23 Salem Street. Mr. Taylor, a graduate of Harvard in the class of 1929, is instructor in Spanish in Phillips Andover Academy.

Mrs. Jennie D. Henry of Helena, Mont., a sister of the late Dexter Dow of our class, has been added to our group list of subscribers to the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE. It is indeed a pleasure to welcome Mrs. Henry into our class family group.

News has recently been received indirectly that "Fush" Hazen has not been well since last April, due to a heart ailment. We sincerely hope his condition may soon improve.

Our subscriptions to the MAGAZINE this year number 18, seven of which are from members of our class family group representing deceased classmates. The latter are: Mrs. David N. Blakely, Mrs. Benjamin F. Ellis, Miss Martha Flagg Emerson, Mrs. Jennie D. Henry, Mrs. George H. Hitchcock, Mrs. Nathaniel K. Noyes and Mrs. Burt H. Redfield. To this loyal group we are indebted for the ALUMNI MAGAZINE Report on Subscribers by Classes for 1948-1949, which gave the class of 1889 the highest percentage of Quota of all classes receiving the MAGAZINE from the class of 1876 down to the class of 1950—a record only made possible by their subscriptions.

Our 1949 Alumni Fund contributors numbered 16. Their total gifts aggregated 228% of objective, which is slightly larger than in 1948.
