November birthday felicitations to Boston,Galusha, Martin, Surrey and Woodman. It is also the Secretary's natal month and that of four other members of his family.
The Winchesters spent the summer at their cottage at Limekiln Lake in the Adirondacks and the Hobans sojourned at their summer home at Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard.
" 'Twas hot there, too," said Hobe. Where wasn't it? Not too bad, however, on the coast of Maine.
On September 16 the Secretary paid a visit to our Dr. Hopkins at West Swanzey, N. H. It was all the more pleasant because Charlie andMrs. Adams were there at the same time. Hoppy, whose ebbing strength obliged him to give up practise some time ago, is now confined to his house but he continues to move about and receive his friends, of which there are many throughout the community he has served so faithfully and well for many years —two score and more. From time to time he has visited his daughter Faith, the last time in June this year. Faith's husband is also a physician. Both have a large practise in Pennsburg, Pa., where they also conduct a private hospital. Mrs. Hopkins, who is a helpless invalid, is being cared for there.
The Secretary's news larder is empty. Please, please shovel some in.
Still hoping for a trace of Baldwin. Does anyone know?
