Room 822, 25 Broad St., New York 4, N. Y. Once more it is the Secretary's painful duty to report recent deaths in our class.

Lester Berry died suddenly at his home in Jackson Heights, L. 1., on October so. Lester was born in St. Johnsbury Center and graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy. For many years president of the J. P. Linahan Company of New York, he retired from business responsibilities last spring. He leaves his widow, three children and two sisters.

Charlie Beals died on August 21 at Petersham, Mass., where he had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Harry C. Buell. Charlie had been in poor health for several years but had always accepted his disabilities with philosophy and courage. He will be remembered as an unusually loyal alumnus and classmate, as the father of '07's Class Baby, his daughter Mary, and as one of the oldest members of the Class. He was 72 years old. Charlie graduated from the Bangor Theological Seminary in 1908, one year after his graduation from Dartmouth where he attained Phi Beta Kappa standing. After graduation he held pastorates in Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts. Returning to his home town, East Bridgewater, Mass., 15 years ago, he supplied churches in that vicinity and retired 10 years ago. The recent death of his son George was a shock from which he never recovered. He leaves a son and two daughters.

An informal 'O7 dinner was held at the University Club on the eve of the HarvardDartmouth football game. Organized by BillSmart, it was attended by Bill and the following: Pierce, Crocker, Stevens, Jim Brown,Kitching, Niles, Woodworth, Plummer, Cochrane and Dick Lane.

Tod Plummer's daughter has been making her home in Hanover for more than a year and is employed in the office of the Dean of Freshmen.

Fred Lena is Principal of the Yonkers High School, Yonkers, N. Y. He makes his home at 5535 Netherland Avenue, New York City 63.

Dr. Ralph Perkins has a new address at Harwichport, Mass., suggesting that Ralph may have retired from active medical practice. A further report will be made after checking with him.

A letter from George Hoytj who prefers to be called Bit," started on June 29 and completed on October 12, is delightfully typical of its author. His excuse is that he is not only president and treasurer of his company but also bookkeeper, janitor and stenographer. Bit remarks about Frank Garby: "Frank was always very friendly with me was one of the Coast's leading golfers had his own stock and bond house.... represented several millionaires in their real estate as well as stock investments. When I saw him, he was always his old self, but it took a few minutes to melt the-dare I say?-New England protective shell. I miss Frank. I could always count on running into him at the windy corner of Montgomery and Bush Streets every so often."

Still quoting from Bit: "I have just put BillCummings-ENTIRELY sober, I swear-on the straight road toward San Francisco, in his Olds Convertible. We had thought that the car was in bad shape as we heard strange sounds. Stopping to investigate we found that it was only the extra whisky bottle rolling around. We had the grandest gab-fest. We resurrected memories long dormant. How many we could remember whose names at first seemed queer. We covered everything- The Commons—Aulis, Jimmy Haggerty and wife, and Hen Tcague and up to the Presidents past and present. But, oh! those funny situations, Vale of Tempe, Craven Laycock, Peerades to Montreal and Quebec. Class doings, individual doings galore-touching lightly on various youthful indiscretions." More from Bit and about Bill Cummings next month—a serial story, as it were.

Bill Cummings and his wife Helen have been touring from Maine to the West Coast, primarily a business trip, but with the Cummings, as usual, a reunion with classmates along the way. They spent some days with Bruno Kimball in Ogden, Utah, before moving on to San Francisco.
