Harvard Game Weekend was another satisfying Chapter in the Book of Life—aside from a very enjoyable time with brother John '08, his wife Jennie and other members of the family, we had a thoroughly fine evening at the Joint-'09-'10-'11 Dinner in the University Club with lots of old friendships renewedfat and plebeian, happy and humanizing would seem to characterize the prevailing atmosphere in that large room—Art Allen, Jess Wilson, Clarke Tobin, Jim MacPherson, Roge Pierce, Ed Keith, A 1 Ferguson, Art Lord, Maurice Blake, Ray Gorton, Charlie Fay, Micky Holmes, Walter Norton, Memorial Fund Chairman Slip Powers, Reunion Chairman John VanderPyl, Dinner Chairman Bones Jones, New Class Treasurer Earle Pierce, Secretary Hap Hinman plus a fine group of '09-'11 friends of old (it did seem that '09 Songsters Hooker, Mason, Swenson at al were not as songing as usual, maybe due to senility, or to lack of social dementia in the room that was also due to some form of old age).
Postprandial entertainment was principally group visiting with such figures as Tobe, Bolivar Sherwin, Jack Ingersoll, Walter Norton reviewing the athletic highlights of their day —heightened, in fact, by those huge, fat, aromatic Puerto Rican cigars generously donated by Sugarboss Ed Keith, who is now enjoying retirement from the "sugar" 'he accumulated during a lifetime of labor in the tropics—it was a grand evening, and still looks so from this pastoral setting on Canaan Street, N. H.
Next day at Game glimpses were had of Gay Gleason, Jim Baldwin, Henry Collin,Tommie Leonard, Ed Loring, Keith Pevear and wife.
Interestingly enough, Jim Baldwin who still looks as though he could give an interesting account in the line, and his comely wife, both Dartmouth partisans, could look down with mixed emotions on the field to see their sonin-law, a truly fine football player when not injured, "Howie" Houston of the Harvard varsity.
