Memorial Fund Chairman, robert c. borwell Marsh & McLennan 231 South La Salle St., Chicago, Ill.
Bob McKennan has been honored by the faculty and appointed their Alumni Council member. At the Mutual Insurance Conven- tion in Boston just ended Tippy Tower did a bang up job as chairman of the climaxing banquet according to Eddie Pease, vice-president and secretary of the Mutual Boiler and Machinery Insurance Cos. Tippy is a vicepresident of the Federal Mutual Fire Insurance Company.
From Connie Conrad who has spent several weeks in the East:
"It seems ages since the Michigan game but this is my recollection and I will probably miss some. Jack Davis was there, also Bob and MaryBorwell who flew over with my Betty—Bob and I being there earlier for business. The Molt Garlocks were supposed to be there but his mother had just died. They were to stay with Bob andGladys Meginnity as we did. Ford and Gerty Whelden were there, the Petrequins and Bob Readings from Cleveland, Hens Jones from Toledo, the Stan Smiths flew in from Rockford (Eddie Pease met them at the airport after the game)—also the Whit Campbells, Tige Lyons and Ken Montgomerys from Chicago and environs."
From Park Merrow,
"Bob Weinig, General Manager of Wincharger out in Sioux City just held a huge open house and 15 th anniversary party at the Wincharger plant. As you know, Wincharger is now tied in with Zenith and doing extremely well. It was a really memorable affair with great and near great in attendance. Bob Bingham, Democratic candidate for Governor in New Hampshire stumped the state from Colebrook to Seabrook and made an extremely good impression on the voters." (Quite a statement from the Republican boss of Carroll Country).
ELECTION FLASH: Bob Bingham lost out November 7 to his Dartmouth-Republican opponent, incumbent Governor Sherman Adams '20. Bob made a good run of it but went down with all the other Democrats in the State's Republican sweep.
Bill Pugh's son Dick has been made Battalion Commander of the Dartmouth NROTC Unit.
From Max Emerson to Bill Sleigh,
"Situation here not particularly tense—mostly watchful waiting although we are sending a lot of our belongings home. Wouldn't be surprised if all dependents were shipped back before long. Leave for London next week and then to Austria, Italy and North Africa. Am Board Chairman to select 'unknown servicemen remains' for 3 theatres of World War II action. Gruesome."
From Variety (October 25), "Nate Colwell, head of radio-TV for Savings Bond Division of U.S. Treasury, arrived in Hollywood to assemble talent for special New Year's Eve broadcast. Show to be recorded November 1, in Vine Street Playhouse will have a Dixie format."
From the Detroit News:
"Realtor Reaches Top—C. Rowland Stebbins, a member of the Lansing, Mich., Board of Realtors, has a unique claim to fame. He has now been on the highest point in each of the 48 states. On a recent trip to New England to attend the twentyfifth anniversary of his class at Dartmouth College he scaled the remaining eight peaks necessary to establish his 100 per cent total.'
From the Aetnaizer,
"Charles R. Jameson, manager of the 42nd Street New York City! Office, recently observed his twenty-fifth Aetna-versary. Mr. Jameson, a t"-tlve of Newport, N. H., was graduated from Dartmouth College in 1925. Immediately after leaving college, he attended the Aetna s Bond 1 rain ing School at the Home Office. H. Mr Goss who is chairman of the association s subcommittee on out-of-state Federal Housing Agency Mortgages, will speak on such mortgages.

Andy Edson was in Boston this fall and had lunch with Johnny Garrod and myself. Since leaving the State Department he has done reading and research and thought he would dabble a bit in the present elections. Next year he probably will turn to teaching. Commander Phil Coykendall has recently come to the Boston area as Public Works Officer at the Naval Air Station in Squantum. Carl Bridenbaugh has accepted the Margaret Byrne Professorship at the University of California (Berkeley). Will sign off now to save room for the Alumni Fund report.
