The fall program got under way October 20 with the customary Dartmouth Night celebration at the Saturn Club. Approximately three dozen Big Green stalwarts turned out for this annual observance. Space limitations prevent the naming of all those present but among those on hand were such "old" reliables as Les Lambert '21, Lorin Goulding '21, HughJohnson '30, John Cogswell '31, George Selkirk '39 and Frank Mace '45. It was particularly gratifying to note so many of the younger classes represented and to see a contingent from beyond the borders of Buffalo.
Bob Anthony '45 was in charge of arrangements for the biennial trek via the Lehigh (not to be confused with the "breather" from Bethlehem) to Ithaca for the Cornell contest. Our active social chairman, Bill Hart '42, planned the party in conjunction with the television showing of the Dartmouth-Princeton game at the Saturn Club.
The release of the sportsreel, "Operation Jack Frost," was scheduled at the Paramount Theatre for the week following Thanksgiving, so that November was quite an active month. You will shortly receive notices concerning the annual Christmas luncheon for Dartmouth alumni, parents, undergraduates and prospective matriculants.
Buffalo Briefs: Actually the first unofficial fall meeting took place September 23 at Wilson when Yours Truly walked down the aisle with Bobby Gale, daughter of Ash Gale '12. Among the ex-Hanoverians on hand for the occasion were the best man, Ashley Gale Jr. '47; uncles Chet Gale '19 and Burt Gale '17; ushers LewHarriman '38 and Jack Guenther '41, and EdPeterson '24. That also serves as an excuse for the lack of club news this fall.
The Club extends best wishes for a speedy recovery to Paul Venneman '26 injured in an auto accident, and sympathy to HoraceTaylor '23 on the death of his father. Congratulations are in order for Alice and BobCommon '40, proud parents of a baby girl, and Lew Harriman '38, new president of the Buffalo Junior Chamber of Commerce. Salutes go to Don Scully, Jr. '49, as well as to others who have joined the Armed Forces.
