The regular Christmas vacation dinner was held December 28 at Howard Johnson's Restaurant in Portland. A very fine dinner was served and we were privileged in having a distinguished head table that included John Everett '08, Wilbur Bull '09, Chief Justice Harold Murchie '09, George Hinckley '09, Pres. Bill Shapleigh '12, and Chuck Burwell '27, chairman of the Scholarship Committee.

We were fortunate in having among the other 65 Dartmouth men Edward Fletcher '02, who was the senior alumnus present.

Chief Justice Murchie was the principal speaker of the evening and gave a brief, humorous discourse on Big Government.

The balance of the meeting was taken up by a discussion of the Scholarship Fund Drive as ably outlined by Chuck Burwell, chairman. The outline was very concise, and being fresh from a meeting of college members in Boston, Chuck was well informed on all questions that arose.

The Dartmouth Club of Maine has set its sights for a $25,000 fund within the next two years. We were pleasantly surprised by the start which has already been made and we feel sure that every Dartmouth alumnus living in the State of Maine will see the need of this fund.
