ONE of the exciting, important developments of today is television. At the very center of it is a Dartmouth man, Sylvester L. (Pat) Weaver '30, Vice President of the National Broadcasting Company in Charge of Television. A "profile" of Pat Weaver, with considerable attention given to his ideas about this new social force, provides the lead feature for June. The author is Robert R. Rodgers '42. who also is with NBC after a period with television station WPIX in New York. His lively and readable article begins on Page 13.

The highlight of the year for Dartmouth College Publications is the appearance this month of This Our Purpose, the collected addresses of President Hopkins. Edited by Prof. Arthur Dewing '25, the book covers the full span of Mr. Hopkins' presidency from 1916 to 1945. It has been reviewed for us by Leon Burr Richardson '00, whose summary and estimate will be found on Page 19.

In the faculty section this month, Pages 22- 23, will be found the photographs of three dis- tinguished members of the Dartmouth faculty who retire in June. Also retiring is our Undergraduate Editor, Bill Mulligan '50, whose final Chair (Page 27) takes up the subject of Dick's House.
