THE William S. Churchill Freshman Prize, awarded annually at the end of the college year to an outstanding member of the first-year class, was presented this summer to Edward S. Horton '54 of Hanover. He is the son of Prof. Clark W. Horton, consultant in educational research.
The award, consisting of a set of books valued at $100, was established by William A. Churchill in memory of his son, William S. Churchill '27. It goes to the member of the freshman class who, in the judgment of the Dean of Freshmen, "possesses to the greatest degree the qualifications of manliness, uprightness, fairness and respect for duty." Young Horton, a highranking student, is a member of the Undergraduate Council for 1951-52.
