Okay... '3l didn't finish first in the Alumni Fund ratings, but Bill Benger gets a family-size salaam from this department for the tremendous job he did. And some kingsize kudos for all his lieutenants who did the doorbell-pushing, sidewalk-pounding, cajoling, \convincing and wallet-walloping. It's great, isn't it, to be part of an alumni body that can raise $577,000!
No doubt getting in training for the June Jaunt, these Kiel's left their cares and woes behind for a few days in Hanover during September: Ken Fraser and spouse up from Greenwich; Si Leach and frau down from Winnipeg; George Conklin and better-half over from Saranac Lake; Charlie Simonson and mate north from Rye; Bill Alton and —oops! a solo flight! escaping from Manhattan Island.
Charlie McAllister is now banging the gavel as Rotary Prexy in White Plains. They don't give varsity letters for making first team in civic duties, but if they did, Charlie would get one bigger than even his ample frontage could display.
Prudential Insurance Company just released the good news that Jim Cooley has been named Associate Director of their research organization.
Lauri Myllykangas, now main-staffing for the Norton Company, recently got a spread in Beantown papers for continued activity in baseball. Man to man, Lauri, don't you find it a little hard on the legs?
From the sooner-or-later-it'll-happen-department: as this column goes to press, George(Smokey) Adams, Lt. Comdr. USNR and Chicago Daily News man, is Lohengrinning with the former Violet Meyer.
Marty Zinn writes that he's now covering East Texas for Mojud Hosiery. We'll expect him to bring some of those ad models to Reunion next June.
