To start off the month, a Wah Hoo Wah for Howard Curtis in honor of his election as President of the Palmer National Bank at Palmer, Mass. Howard was chosen at a directors' meeting held on October 22, and succeeds the late Louis J. Brainerd who died suddenly on October 4. Howard was simultaneously chosen a director of the bank. This is the culmination of 37 years of service, starting as a clerk and passing through various offices of assistant cashier, cashier, vice-president and cashier to that of executive vice-president as of last January. It is of particular interest and pleasure to be able to report this, as we roomed together three out of the four years at Hanover, and as Howard served in that important capacity—best man at our wedding. My sincere congratulations as well as those of the class.

Each spring we report the salmon dinner furnished by Sherm Saltmarsh to the Dartmouth gang at Patten's in Boston, with regrets that we were unable to attend ourselves. This was the case a few weeks ago when the telephone call came too late to make it. "How would you like to wind up the Maine trout season by nailing three square-tails big enough to feed 15 men... . Sherm Saltmarsh did just that at Perry's Pierce Pond Camps last weekend and we helped 14 other good men and true eat the evidence, broiled to a delicious turn at their Wednesday gathering at Patten's yesterday." Henry Moore in the Boston Herald. Incidentally, the '14ers, as usual, furnished the wine.

The night before the Harvard game the classes from 'O9 through '15 gathered in the ballroom of the University Club for a dinner and get-together. With the number of in the Boston area, the turnout was very disappointing. Only Aborn, Brown, Drake,Fletcher, Kimball, Saltmarsh, Warren and Woodies were present.

News bits gathered at this meeting, however, brought out the, following items of interest. Martha Brown is recovering from a broken right arm which she received several weeks ago and Harold is receiving treatment from a well-known dermatologist for dishpan hands. They both became grandparents last July when daughter Lois presented them with Deborah Ann Smith at Bayside, Va Dick Woodies, son of our Art, is commercial manager at Radio Station WNAW at North Adams. Art, himself, is doing considerable broadcasting from L0we11.... John H. Warren, a student at Rhode Island School of Design, is attaining the honor roll and is teaching two classes... . Bino Knight's daughter Paula G. is president of the Middlebury College Alumni in the Wellesley-Newton area and is heading up an active year for the organization.

Although not sitting with the Class, we did see Charlie and Buff Bachelder and Ernie andLouise Kimball. Others reported as present were Cap Lawrence, Harold Brown, Mat Hallett, Jim Gregg, M. Barrett, Stubby Johnson,Chief Higgins, Henry Lowell, Art Woodies and some wives, but our scouts were unable to identify all of them and again we do not want to cause a rift in any family harmony. No heart attacks have been reported, but it was the kind of game that could have brought on several, especially to those of us perched in the crows'-nest 38 rows up. What a climb! Visitors to Hanover Inn in September and October included Everett Barnard, Sig andKay Larmon, Rufe and Dorothy Sisson and Dick and Mildred Pritchard.

Address changes for the month are: Jesse H.Hubel, 15 Grandville Rd., Hampstead, Montreal 29, Can.; Harold L. Dunbar, 12 South Geneva St., Elgin, Ill.; Dr. Arthur Wethey Jr., Box 493, Oakland, Calif.

Jim Heenehan is delighted to report that he is a grandfather. "My daughter Jan presented her mother and myself with Kevin James Kearney on the 30th of July, 1951. I got so much satisfaction out of it, I want to share my pleasure with all of the other grandfathers. They know what it means. "It was a marvelous job which the class did on the Alumni Fund and I think they can all take a little bit of satisfaction for a job well done."

Yes, we all can take satisfaction for a job well done and do not forget that Jim Heenehan is one of our most powerful influences in that direction. With that thought in mind, I will cut the notes here, at the request of the MAGAZINE "to make it short" to make way for the Alumni Fund Report of 1951.
