A GIFT of $25,000 toward the Hopkins War Memorial Fund has been made by Mr. and Mrs. George F. Jewett of Spokane, Wash., it was announced by the Dartmouth Development Council last month.

The Hopkins Fund, named in tribute to President-Emeritus Ernest Martin Hopkins, is being used for the construction of new physics laboratories at Dartmouth and a further goal is the provision of a large auditorium on the Dartmouth campus. The present total of the Hopkins Fund is $1,790,000. Costs of the two buildings are estimated in excess of $3,500,000.

Mr. and Mrs. Jewett requested that their gift be applied toward construction of the Hopkins Center. The building will provide an auditorium and related facilities for the entire student body.

Mr. Jewett was a member of the Parents Committee during the active campaign for this project which is now held in abeyance. George F. Jewett Jr., son of the donors, graduated from Dartmouth with the class of 1950.
