The Baltimore Dartmouth alumni and their families, totaling 78, accepted the kind invitation of Leon Loeb '27 and his wife to attend the picnic at Wellcome Farm, eight miles south of Frederick, Md., on Sunday afternoon, November 4. The weather was clear and crisp, which was conducive to healthy appetites. Mrs. Loeb had prepared very capably a wonderful spread of chicken soup, fried chicken, chili, hot dogs, homemade ice cream and cake, topped off with marshmallows for toasting, hot chocolate for the youngsters, and coffee for the adults. The farm comprises some 200 acres, and the historic home is a landmark of this section of Maryland. The house has been redecorated and modernized without losing any of its charm.
Our regular monthly dinner meeting was held at the Blackstone apartments, November 14. The main project for this get-together was formulating plans and appointing committees for the handling of the Dartmouth Glee Club concert which we decided to put on here Friday evening, April 4. The Glee Club visit in 1950 was highly successful and we hope to better the attendance in 1952. A special committee was appointed for "enrollment activity," which we feel sure will step up our efforts in contacting desirable applicants from the preparatory and high schools in the Baltimore area.
