Red Edgar was elected vice president-assistant to the president of the Boston & Maine Railroad" last June, which looks like a tremendously important advancement from where we sit. Red, who has been assistant to the President for the past six years, started his railroad career on the B & M in 1929 as a clerk in the freight traffic department. He is president of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Boston.

Another New Hampshirite was in the news recently papers all over the country used an Associated Press picture of four New Hampshire delegates entertaining the Republican convention with some barbershop harmony, while holding straw hats with Ike's name in large letters. Lane Dwinell of Lebanon was one of them. Lane is running for the New Hampshire Senate. He has been speaker of the House of Representatives and had been spoken of as a possible candidate for the Republican nomination for governor, until the field became crowded.

Lanky Langdell of Manchester was also a delegate, in fact a clipping from a Fitchburg, Mass., paper says he was the principal speaker at an Eisenhower rally in Fitchburg, where the reporter also remembered that Lanky had been a star center on the Dartmouth basketball team and made the All-Eastern team.

We had hoped to use in these columns a grand picture which El Drake sent us of Eisenhower conferring with two of his top advisers Gov. Sherman Adams 'go of N. H. and Art Vandenberg. The editor reported that he was running a short feature on Dartmouth men who hold important positions in both camps, so please turn to the front of this issue. Art was head of the Citizens-for-Eisenhower organization in the early stages of the campaign, and immediately after the convention Eisenhower named him his Executive Assistant.

While many '2Bers are raising grandchildren, Tom Talbot says he is just starting his family. His first child, Harry, was born Jan. 12, 1951 and the second, Tom Jr., only a few days ago, on Aug. 25. Tom and Fae moved from Philadelphia a few weeks ago now live in the San Fernando Valley and like it very much in spite of the earthquake which greeted their arrival. Tom is still in the same type of work he is an attorney in the claim department of the Ohio Casualty Insurance Cos. in Los Angeles.

After a two-year leave of absence during which he checked up on higher education in Germany for the State Department, HerbSensenig is back in Hanover teaching German. He and Mimi spent a busy summer getting their Norwich farm and garden back in production. They found that while their house was closed, someone broke in and stole all their sterling silver. To their dismay they learned that their theft insurance policy doesn't cover silver. Both their boys rode in the Norwich Fair in July and Billy won three prizes with his horse. The Sensenigs brought over two German girls, aged 15 and 19, whom they are sponsoring. Hella, the younger one, is living with them and the other girl is with the Paul Samples. Just before returning, Mimi received her Ph.D. degree in psychology from the University of Munich.

The 25th Reunion Chairmen, Jim andHelen Campion, dropped in to see us in Troy in May on their way to Philadelphia, but we were then on the high seas. Mary and I and our three children all enjoyed our twomonths' trip through Holland, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and France. We were particularly sold on the advantages of travelling by car rather than trains and would be glad to go into details with anyone who is thinking of going to Europe.
