The Dartmouth Club of Central Pennsylvania gathered for its annual picnic at FrankDavenport's ('38) Westover Farms in Perry County, Pa., August 16. We had a tremendous turnout of 75 alumni, undergraduates, entering freshmen and guests.
Frank did a bang-up job as host and everyone thoroughly enjoyed himself. Four of this fall's entering freshmen from'the Harrisburg area attended with girl friends and families. We also enjoyed seeing "Hack" Davenport '39, Frank's brother, who was on from Chicago for the week and stayed for the party. Herb Bayer '38 and family made the trek all the way from Tyrone, Pa., for second-place honors in the long-distance contest. Bill Page '06 and his wife were there and represented the senior class in attendance. Bill is the father of JohnPage '39 who was also there with his family. Things were enlivened by George "Gus" Hull '37, who kept the crowd in stitches with his tall tales of his tenure at Hanover.
There was plenty to do, including swimming, badminton, games and, last but not least, free beer. The party finally broke up after dark but not before the group had had a chance to sing a few Dartmouth songs around the fire.
