Three score votaries of Dartmouth tradition in the Northern California area joined in Dartmouth Night ceremonials at Veneto Restaurant, with President M. K. Taylor '28 as emcee and Ritchie Smith '26 singing maestro.
The evening's high point was the intimate account of the birth and growth of the Dartmouth Night tradition by Rev. Bob Leavens '01 who, as a freshman, witnessed the third Dartmouth Night. The speaker's many hours of scholarly research, embracing the unending influence of President William Jewett Tucker in the history of the College, have won him top ranking among Dartmouth historians specializing in the .Tucker era. Long an inspirational leader among alumni west of the Rockies, Bob Leavens again roused his admiring fellow alumni with his vivid and moving story of the days when earnest devotion cloaked the College.
