Another successful Christmas luncheon was held at the Mid-Day Club on Saturday, December 26. Although the attendance was not quite as good as the previous year, we did count forty-some applicants for next year's freshman class and 150 alumni and fathers of applicants in attendance. Arrangements for the luncheon were handled by a committee headed by Ed Hills '44.

We were fortunate in being able to obtain Professor Foley: of the History Department as our main speaker, and the group was delighted by his Vermont humor as it permeated his talk on Hanover life, as of today and yesteryear. This was Mr, Foley's second appearance in recent years as.the principal speaker at this luncheon, and we all hope that he will so honor us again in the future.

Bob Fairbank '33 acted as toastmaster and did an admirable job. His jokes, although of a different twang than Professor Foley's, were hew and different and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The applicants were given a preview of Dartmouth life by Ronnie Chilcote '57, representing the undergraduates, and GeorgeCase 'Jr. '29, speaking as the father of an undergraduate. The program was rounded out with brief talks by Ray Barker '23, our Alumni Council representative; Maurie Hartman '29, Club president; and Bob Conway '42, head of the interviewing committee.

The Club's annual banquet will be held March 30 at 6:30 P.M. at the University Club. We are especially fortunate this year to have as our speakers, Head Football Coach Tuss McLaughry and Herbert West, Professor of Comparative Literature.
