Again this month, our friend Cupid has left only a few items in our mailbox, so let us dispose of them first. On December 19 LeeDennis and Joyce Hallett assumed the title of Mr. and Mrs. before a small church congregation. The newlyweds are now residing in Boston, Mass., where Lee is engrossed in 3rd yr. Harvard Med. School studies, having transferred from the Dartmouth Med. School last June. We don't know where Lee and Joyce honeymooned, but we hear the newlyweds led a large contingent of medics, including Phil Parshley and wife Bobbie, Moe Moss,Bruce Gilmore - all Harvard students — and Columbia rivals, Walt Shim and Van Cochran, up to Hanover for a great Carnival celebration.

About a month later, Ash Saunders took Miss Sonia Sheraton, a native of Rayne, England, as his bride in an Episcopal Church service. Ash apparently met his future wife during his tour of duty with the Air Force at an RAF base in Weathersfield, England. The Saunders selected Davos, Switzerland, for their honeymoon site (and what D. man can question that choice), but hope to exchange this continental living for a home in this country after Ash's discharge this fall.

That completes the wedding coverage, but we see where classmates have recently made public their "announcement of intentions." Bill Barlow and Laura Elizabeth Mocksfield are busy with plans for a spring wedding following their engagement last December. The prospective Mrs. B. hails from Orange, N. J., and is employed there: Bill has been holding down a position in the comptroller's office of the N. Y. Central R.R. since his discharge from the service in late '53. A former corporal in the Army Transport Corps, Bill was stationed in Orleans, France. Dave Lewis, 2nd yr. U. of Va. med student, and Judy Meltzer of Highland Park, N. J., are scheduled to take that long walk down the center aisle this June. Judy is a senior at the U. of Conn. And lastly, over the Christmas holidays in the Windy City, Pete Bridges and Mary Jane Lee of that city made known their betrothal and their preference for a summer wedding. Pete met the '53 Northwestern grad at Columbia where he is attending the Institute for Russian Studies and she is at the business school. He reports his intentions to complete his studies this June and then get his tour of duty with the U. S.'s largest single employer out of the way.

Pete's letter brings us news also of several other '53s. Tom Frenzel and Butch Edgar apparently have a soft deal at Camp Kilmer, N. J., where they're assigned to the post newspaper (didn't they like your cooking Tom?) while "Sock" Senne is at Ft. Holabird, Md., rather than at Camp Chaffee as we mistakenly reported in our Jan. column. Mention of Camp Chaffee reminds us that Tom Soong has been stationed there for the past several months. Our mail-order-house specialist, TedSpiegel, and It. USA, has recently been assigned to the Ordnance Depot, Sandusky, Ohio, following four months at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., and another '54 Tuck graduate, Fred Carleton is working nearby in Columbus, O., for the Army Audit Agency.

Other military miscellany. ... Following completion of Artillery O.C.S. at Ft. Sill in Sept. and a 10-week anti-aircraft and guided missiles course, 2nd Lt. Fred Walsh USA has been serving at battery headquarters, Fort Bliss, Texas A clipping from the Transcript-Telegram, Holyoke, Mass., received the other day tells of Mitch Strickler's entry into the service. Mitch had been working for that paper since finishing Columbia's School of Journalism last June, but now he has joined his fellow Col. J.S. compatriot, Burt Bernstein at Fort Dix. ... While over at the Naval air station, Pensacola, last weekend we bumped into Tom Croft at the officers' dining hall but didn't have an opportunity to chat with him. We had hoped to see 2nd Lt.Johnny Springer USMC there but he was visiting some girls' college. Johnny has been keeping busy since his arrival at Pensacola last summer playing first football and now rugby for the base team. However, shortly big John will head for Corpus Christi and advanced flight training, where he'll join among others fellow Marine pilot TomDixon, who completed his Pensacola training earlier this year. ... Gil Osborn apparently continues to enjoy his Army assignment in Puerto Rico where he has been an instructor in basic English for P.R. trainees since last summer. Nonetheless, Gil reports he is eagerly looking forward to his discharge this Dec. and an opportunity to commence his study of journalism at the U. of Iowa. ... Also enjoying this Easter outside the U. S. at the expense of Uncle Sam are Supply Corps ensigns Dave Katz and Johnny Rogers, who are both catching their first glimpses of the Mediterranean and its famed Riviera about now. Dave is aboard the USS Bennington, having relieved Terry Malone '52 as mess caterer in Jan., while Johnny has been ship's store officer on the USS Leyte since the first of the year.

BUSINESS BRIEFINGS ... Down in New York City Pat Dudensing has accepted a position in the Advertising Dept. of BusinessWeek magazine. Perhaps Pat can serve as a source of tips on some good stock market buys for any prospective '53 investors. He and his wife Peggy have established residence in Darien, Conn. Glancing westward, we note Harry Bennett is now working for IBM on the West Coast. Prior to joining IBM, Harry was doing graduate study in mathematics at Stanford, taking time out, however, in May of '54 to marry Diane Jan Clarke of Hollywood, Calif. And down in the land of the hula-hula girls and Waikiki Beach, Bay Yee,'54 Tuck graduate, and the Stanford Business Research Center have decided to join forces. From all reports, Bay has truly been a wonderful host to several '53s serving in Hawaii in the various branches of the military.

RATTLE PRATTLE . . . Congratulations this month are in order for three '53 families on their first-born. It is a prospective Carnival Queen for both the Neil Bersches and the Bob Newsoms. Phyllis Jeanne Bersch arrived on the scene on December 12 at Ann Arbor, Mich., where her daddy is completing his second and final year at Michigan Business School. A little over two months later, February 15, Ruth Newsom pleasantly surprised husband Bob with Robin T. Newsom. Bob and Ruth are living on the West Coast, where he is apparently still on Army duty. Back sometime in mid-December, we believe, Barbie and Kent Robinson welcomed a third mouth to the Robinson clan. Unfortunately we have no further information on this late '54 addition to the Robinson line nor on the activities of the two older family models.

That just about does it for this month. A pleasant Easter to one and all.
