This is my first communication with you as secretary of Dartmouth's finest class. Numerals in this case aren't even necessary. Unfortunately my appointment and my information arrived far apart from one another and so there will be no full column this month, only this brief note to tell you that I hope there will be many columns in the future.

If the Editor will be kind enough to publish this, I am sure it will prevent my scalp from being denuded by irate members of the class.

While I am at it, I might as well use this space to beg all information, pictures, tax forms and any other various and sundry items of interest to readers. Also, I can give you one piece of information about a member of the class, in which I was personally involved. JimCruickshank became the father of a gorgeous baby girl on March 7, and the Caesarian section on his wife Hope was done by the new secretary. Mother, father, baby and doctor all are doing well. So, you see there are matters other than column writing to take up my time these days.

Thank you very much for hearing me out and my next column should be bubbling with news.

Although your executive committee was indeed concerned about Bill Baker's request to be replaced as secretary, we could readily appreciate his reasons for wanting to step down. We certainly want to thank Bill for the job he did for the class over these past months. I'm sure Bill would appreciate hearing one more time from all of his good friends, so why don't we all take a minute and drop him a "thank-you note!"

Your committee is most appreciative of DocFielding's offer to serve out Bill's unexpired term, and you can all get Doc's job off to a great start by merely telling him where you are, how many there are of you and how you feed them all! Let's all get behind Doc and the class and the Fund.
