Cheers for Phil Chase, '07's Alumni Fund Agent, and his assistant agents, and those classmates whose generosity and promptness put '07 in first place as of April 26 in the Green Derby Race for leadership in Group I, which includes classes from '05 through '13. That suggests a challenge to those of us who have yet to make our contributions, to keep '07 in front.
Back in mid-March Bishop and Mrs. Niles entertained the Smarts, the Stilphens and the Dick Lanes, at supper in their Wellesley Farms home, following which the party attended a chapel service which featured the Wellesley and Dartmouth Glee Clubs. A card from Athens, Greece, from Bishop reads as follows: "Walking into the Grand Bretagne Hotel here in Athens, whom should Luna and I come face to face with but Judge McLane and his wife. We had just flown from Beirut, Lebanon, and they were just leaving on a five-day cruise among the Aegean Islands."
The latest news about our peripatetic classmate, Vic King, is that he is in West Germany and plans to be back in the United States via Japan next June.
Harry McDevitt, whose health record has been enviable, had one surgical operation in April, is now convalescing at home, and returns to the Veterans Hospital in Boston during May for another operation.
Our '07 representatives at the annual Five-Class Dinner on April 29 in Boston were: Coburn, Grebenstein, Kitching, and Bill Sanborn. Actually the Five-Class Dinner has become the Eight-Class Dinner, including classes from 1900 through 1907. Prof. Francis Childs '06 addressed the meeting on plans for activating the Tucker Foundation.
The class of '07's reunion, celebrating its 48th anniversary, will be held at Hanover on June 13-14-15. Our neighbor classes — '08, '09, '10 and '11 - plan to celebrate their reunions on the same dates. As an off-year reunion, ours will be informal but very rewarding. Don't miss it!
