Total Known Giving of the Class of 1896 to Dartmouth as of October 11, 1955.... Ford H. Whelden '25 has done a marvelous job analyzing the gifts to the College and crediting them to the individuals and classes involved. Following is his analysis of our class' giving.

Alumni Fund total through June 30, 1955, including Alumni Fund income of Richards, Laycock, Weston Funds, cumulative, of $669.77 - $33,505.42.

Nathan Jenks Memorial (by Elizabeth Jenks) for Prizes - $1,000.00.

Craven Laycock Memorial (by Florence Laycock) - $100.00.

Byron E. Eldred, Bronze Bust of Craven Laycock - $2,000.00.

Gifts to Memorial Field - $4,000.00.

Gifts to Gymnasium Fund - $2,013.00.

Gifts to New Building Fund - .$1,505.00.

Guy C. Richards Bequest - $193,622.00.

Carl H. Richardson Bequest - $2,500.00.

Thomas C. Ham and Family Fund - $3,000.00.

Herbert O. Benner Bequest, 3 Memorial Funds — $5,686.77.

Charles A. Weston Bequest - Class of 1896 Fund - $1,000.00.

Philip Young —for Ornamental Street Lighting - $12,000.00.

Four small gifts - $220.00. Total to November 10, 1955 - $262,152.19.

The Alumni Fund: This is a marvelous achievement. Giving to this Fund has become a habit for nearly 70% of the alumni. Our class has an excellent record.

The Guy C. Richards Bequest: The final of this Bequest is listed above. The fine record of our class is largely due to his most generous gift - his entire estate. Eight of our group are listed as givers.

The Bequest Program: This relatively new undertaking with its tremendous opportunity offers to do for Dartmouth's endowments what the Alumni Fund has done for essential current use funds. The number of alumni participating is increasing steadily. The total sum in hand and pledged is impressive.

As the years pass Bequest Giving will become a habit, as it is with the Alumni Fund. Bequests of any amount are acceptable. We did not pay over half of the cost of our years at Dartmouth. De we not all owe an obligation to the College?

Six members of the '96 group have advised of their intention to give the College a share of their estates. I hope other members of our class will participate.
