A note from Bill Ahern concerning his retirement says, "At the present time, my hobby is standing on the corner watching all the girls go by." And, "At our age I notice they do go by."
Arthur Spear reports that he has recently visited Mrs. Ted Greenleaf in her Auburn, Me., home — and found her comfortably established in a nice home with two aunts. She had been ill before and after Ted's death, but Arthur says that she seems to be currently in good health.
Harold and Luna Niles visited Seattle, Wash., in early September. While there, they saw Helen Barnes frequently, and were her guests at the Dartmouth summer picnic. Helen is definitely hoping and planning to attend '07's Fiftieth next June. She reports that her children and their families are all m good health.
Dr. Harry Whitaker has two homes, one inthe Catskill Mountain region of New YorkState, the other in DeBary, Fla. His mind isdefinitely focused on '07's Fiftieth which hehopes and expects to attend.
Our classmate, Fred Baldwin, has beengathering up honors and seems to be enjoyingthem. He is President of the Cape Cod Anglers Sportsmen's Club and also Director of the Cape Cod Tuna Tournament, South Side Division. When we see you next June at our 50th, Fred, we'll count on you for some tall fish stories.
Cliff and Mrs. Norris are planning to attend '07's 50th next June. Cliff writes that he is in pretty good condition for a young chick nearing seventy-eight!
As previously reported in this column, Hobbs Knight is now a permanent resident of Ogunquit, Me. He doesn't teach any more; he has sold his Ogunquit hotel; he says he behaves himself in the presence of women; works only when he feels like it, which is seldom; and enjoys a drink on occasion. (Our classmate seems to have the key to a pleasant retirement.) Only blot on his landscape is that he has what is called down East, Arthritis, so he may have to crawl to the 50th. (There'll be a few fellow-crawlers, I suspect, Hobbs.) He has an eleven-year-old grandson, who was born just after his father, Hobbs' son Dick, was lost in the Pacific in '45. Hobbs' daughter lives in Coral Gables, Fla.
