The Executive Committee held its annual meeting in Hanover on Friday evening, November 9 - the usual prolonged session with active discussion of many matters and a variety of opinions vigorously expressed. A detailed record of the proceedings appears in the annual report to the Class which will reach you soon, if it has not already. All the officers were present and more than enough committee members to constitute a quorum. The usual cocktail party and dinner at the Norwich Inn followed the Columbia game the next day. By actual count, 23 classmates were in town, all but two or three with their loyal and lovely helpmates, as fair and sprightly a group of grandmothers, actual or almost, as ever one could wish to see.
Talking of which, Polly and Bob Rhoades' youngest daughter Joanne Reis produced her second set of twins on October 24 - Dana and Joanne. The first pair, Channing and Glenn, are now three, and there is also Billy, aged four; that makes 5 under 5, which should provide grandpa and grandma with ample opportunity as sitters.
Miss Mary Leslie Guion Hewitt, daughter of Julie and Ed Hewitt, was married in Elizabeth, N. J., on September 15 to Mr. David Waddell Bird of Birmingham, Mich. They will live in Havana where Mr. Bird is associated with the International Division of the Ford Motor Co.
Our own lads, meanwhile, are still in the running. Clarence Morrison was married to Mrs. Barbara Damon Odell in Andover, Mass., on October 6.
Lewellyn P. White has become the fifth president of Bryant and Stratton School in Boston, which was founded in 1867, and with which Whitey has been associated since 1928. ... Dutch Schroedel was elected President of the Dartmouth Society of Engineers at its annual meeting on October 23. He is vice-president and a director of the Turner Construction Company.
Our notes are abbreviated this month to make space for the Alumni Fund lists. But, if you must know, these are all the items there were anyway. A few letters would not beamiss, particularly from those of you whohave been out of touch for some time. Yourname in the list of contributors representsonly part of your participation in the life ofthe College. In a very real sense, it dependsno less upon direct personal communicationwith you, even if it be no more than a postcard addressed to your secretary.
