The Dartmouth Club of Tokyo held its year-end meeting at Tokyo's plush Family Club on the night of December 22. It was a festive affair with all the Christmas trimmings.
Despite its conservative moniker, the Family Club is one of the pleasantest night clubs in town. It has a fine band, a first-rate floor show and - unique among night clubs - a good dinner served piping hot.
Saint Nick dropped in during the evening and left presents for everyone. Although he'd been limited to a budget of 100 yen (that's 25$ to you stateside folks) we suspected in some cases that his bountiful heart got the best of him. One of us landed a bottle of Scotch, the undersigned an excellent copy of a well-known English lighter. Club president Takanaga Mitsui received a delightful mechanical cat that went charging about the dinner table after a mouse that wasn't there.
Thanks were due to George Chang and Mr. Mitsui for arranging the party. Among those who attended were Fred Carleton Jr., Professor Wing-tsit Chan, Mr. and Mrs. George Chang '30, Leo Clancy '53, Jay Davis (Joseph L.), Mr. and Mrs. Ed Korn '38, E. W. Metz, Takanaga Mitsui, '15, Mr. and Mrs. Nobu Mitsui '43, Osamu Mitsui, Steve Pearsall '53, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Perkins, and Messrs. Henderson and Wilcox, whose full names and classes the secretary failed to obtain.
