San Diego alumni turned out in full force January 11 to greet Bob Blackman, Jack Musick and 25 guests. It was a great night for Dartmouth in San Diego! Veep Bill Enright arranged for Bob Blackman to be interviewed on television by San Diego's best known commentator, Harold Keene. Meanwhile, Presi- dent Bob Zimmerman, Chairman Vance Dickerman and their many able assistants kept the evening program rolling at top speed. Alumni from all parts of the country met for dinner where they had an opportunity to chat informally with the enthusiastic new coaches. After dinner the group moved to larger quarters and welcomed the guests who included future Dartmouth prospects, fathers, principals and coaches.

The Blackman television interview was piped into the reception room. It is doubtful if Dartmouth has ever had better news coverage in any city outside a 200-mile radius of Hanover. The performance was particularly effective because here was a transplanted Californian telling half a million San Diegans what a great place Hanover is and getting away with it... in January.

M.C. Vance Dickerman took over after the telecast and Lu Leeger presented the film MyFirst Week at Dartmouth. Then came questions and answers from the group, followed by 1955 football movies.

The score proves the success. This was the San Diego Association's first attempt at recruiting. Sixteen boys appeared; fifteen of them had hardly even heard of Dartmouth before. To date, five applications! If Eddie Chamberlain can do as well, we'll be off to a flying start.

Our sincerest thanks to Bob Blackman and Jack Musick, and to a committee which did a great job in launching this important new project.
