Greater Lawrence

The annual meeting and election of officers of the Dartmouth Club of Greater Lawrence were held Monday evening, March 5, in the main dining room of the Andover Inn at Phillips Academy, Andover. John J. McKallagat Jr. '36, retiring president, presided at the dinner and at the meeting which followed. The speaker was Thomas E. O'Connell '50, Executive Assistant to President Dickey. He described the work of the various committees planning for the new Ernest Martin Hopkins Center of the Creative Arts. His address, illustrated with tentative blueprints of the proposed structure, was one of the finest ever heard by the club, and gave rise to a lively question and answer period, during which some very well thought out questions were put to the speaker by Edmund F. Leland Jr. '22 and Geoffrey Glendinning '28. It was generally agreed that the meeting was one of the most interesting and stimulating ever held by this Association.

The Rev. Clinton W. Carvell '18 gave the invocation. The -newly elected officers are Albert P. Pettoruto '38, president; John BoltenJr. '41, vice president; Andrew A. Caffrey '43, treasurer; and John C. Reardon '36, secretary. Richard J. Sullivan '28 and Kenneth E. Fulton '46 were elected to the Board of Directors.
