Led by Bill Schulting and Dave Weld, '46 made a creditable showing in the extremely successful Alumni Fund Drive from March through June. Some of you may wonder why we don't show up better than our contemporary classes. This fact must be taken into consideration; approximately 250 to 300 additional men have been added to our class ranks from the Naval V-12 men who selected '46 as their class. Among those men there are many who have become, and will always be, loyal Dartmouth men and gratefully accept the responsibility of the Alumni Fund. However, there are many, many others who because of only having had a short Naval affiliation with Dartmouth have very little interest in school or our class and do not contribute annually to the fund. Thus, our scoring base is the highest of any class ever graduating and makes our Alumni Fund job extremely difficult. In spite of this, our hats are off to Bill Schulting, Dave Weld and the many assistant class agents for their work.

"I've encountered Dartmouth friends in many parts of the world during my travels, but never with greater surprise than in Malta. This past month I've been doing a film and article on Malta and the. island of Gozo. Both are in the middle of the Mediterranean off the coast of Tunisia and I expected to find no acquaintances there at all. Within three days I had encountered Larry Burnett (class of '50, I believe), and my old friend JackHartley, with whom I ran on the track and crosscountry teams.
