The Class Executive Comm. recently elected Fred Stephens, Class Secretary; Charlie Buchanan, Class Treasurer; and BobMalin and "Butch" Edgar as co-editors of the Class Newsletter. The Class Agent and Chairman will be selected at the Christmas meeting of the Committee. As of the December issue, Fred will be preparing this column, so how about helping him out with a newsy note; I'm sure he would be most appreciative.

Down in Philadelphia this past weekend, the loyal Dartmouth constituency was most thankful for the tough, inspired victory over Penn. This first triumph over a Penn team since '33 painted the finishing touches on a lovely Indian summer day. '53 was well represented at the contest if the turn-out for the post-game victory party at the Penn-Sherwood is at all indicative. We chatted briefly with several classmates including; Phil and Joan Hoeffer (married in July) who enthused about the trials and rewards of owning and operating a resort cafe on the Jersey shore; Bill Teare, ex-Marine and since Aug. a Wharton School alumnus, now in training with IBM; "Wish" Washburn, just commencing his Wharton School training; Lowell "Tim" Thomas who has just entered Penn's Law School after an Aug. Navy separation; Ed Rose who is back in school again this fall, this time at MIT; Charlie Jacob, finishing up his architectural studies at Penn this year and thinking of taking a job thereafter in the City of Brotherly Love; Rev. Dave Stowe, finding his ministerial duties outside of Camden, N. J., more and more interesting; Don Smith up from the Atlanta sales office of Carter Corp.; and finally Jim West, Bob Callender, Bob Henderson, and Jack Crisp whose meanderings were mentioned last issue. Other classmates present whom time, cocktails, and/or cramped room conditions precluded conversation were: Dr. Moe Moss, Harlan Fair, Turner Austin, and Tom Fowler.... Let's now hope that the Big Green continues her winning ways!

NUPTIAL NEWS.... Aside from the "Brud" Humphrey-Judy Poole (Aug. 25) and PaulSupovit-Marjorie Ann Jacobsen (Sept. 19) weddings heralded last issue, the marriage of Dick Greene to Finch alumna Joan Asche of N.Y.C. on 8 Sept. represents the lone tally on the nuptial scoreboard this month. Dick has been working in the textile field in the big city since his '56 Army discharge.

Although we can't — or don't want to - believe that '53's bachelor Lotharios are being rebuffed so regularly, the betrothal score-card is not much more impressive. In mid-summer, Bruce Sherman successfully put some of his home-town Stamford, Conn., advertising agency experience to practical use on Nancy Lois Green of Wheaton College; a late '57 wedding is planned. About the same time, John Kurtz, now with Monroe Calculating Machine Co., persuaded a Berkeley School alumna, Anita Greenwald of Lake Shawnee, N. J., to follow this lead. Two Holyoke, Mass., families were made very happy recently when Bill Craven and Barbara Sheehan made public their plans for an early fall nuptial; the prospective Mrs. C. is a graduate of College of St. Rose, Albany. And lastly, Jack Levine whose post-Dartmouth days have seen him at Colgate Univ. (A.B. '54), U.S. Air Force camp, and now at Boston Univ. Law School, fell prey to the pretty smile of Carol Adler of Brookline, Mass., and Simmons College. Surely we must be doing better than this, men!!! How about letting the rest of the Class in on the good news!!

NEWS IN BRIEF.... We have a lot of ground to cover this month so let's go. Within the past few weeks in New York City have bumped into Herb Hartley,Charlie Kahle, Ned Boody, Len Gochman, and Bud Friedman. Herb is just commencing Columbia Business School (in his class is Chuck Luker) after 2 yrs. with First Bank of New York preceded by 2 Army years. Charlie is in his 2nd yr. at the same Business School, entering shortly after his Navy discharge. Ned Boody is well into his 2nd yr. of training at Bankers Trust after an Army tour in the Orient. Len is holding down the seemingly interesting job of publicity director for Pat Boone after his Army training, and Bud Friedman is apparently working day and night trying to keep an eye on several of his family's business interests. In mentioning interns at the various New York hospitals last issue, we unintentionally omitted Bob Morris (Tufts Med.), at the Mt. Sinai and Dave Stiff at the Bellevue (actually a resident in pathology), and Dr.Wade Sherwood, interning across the country in Oakland, Calif. Aaron Epstein is located in Daytona Beach, but in the newspaper (photographer and reporter) rather than medical field; George Keagle, a '57 Tuck grad, is now a mgt. trainee for US Steel in Pittsburgh. Dick Fleming is back in Hanover this fall to complete his Tuck studies along with Mr. and Mrs. SteveBrown and their 2 kids while papa concentrates in geology and an A.B. degree. EdKnapp, with a Ph.D. in fuel technology under his belt, is a new member of the research team at Shawinigan Resins Corp., Springfield, Mass. Kudos for Ted Rockwell are in order on his recent promotion to plant manager of Rockwell Woolen Co. in Leominster, Mass. And finally belated supplement to the list of degree recipients at Harvard in June to include Sid Widrow,"Hiltie" Rosen and H. Stewart Thompson from the Med., Law, and Architecture Schools respectively.

In closing, a word of very sincere thanks to all who in any way contributed to this column since that first article in October of 1953, and a plea that you maintain and even increase this enthusiasm under Fred Stephens ... Sayonata....
