By way of introduction to this month's helping of deathless prose let us introduce a man who needs no introduction - rotund, smiling James F. McKeon, manager of the Dartmouth College Club of New York, and adopted son of good auld '39.

It was 'way back in 1945 that this affable Swede from Worcester, where the West be- gins, first began caring for Indians away from home and mother. If you work in The Big City, or stop in at Hanover-in-New York when you're in town, you already know this housemother to the multitude. You know how he produces four tickets to "My Fair Pyg" at list price on eleven minutes' notice, sees to it that the vermouth never enters the body of the Martini, but stays in its place around the rim, listens to the shaddest shtory that shouldn't have happened to anyman, dries tears, blows noses, and reminds when it's time to get off the soap box and onto the night's last local to Engle-on-the-Wood.

If ever you've been enmeshed in the planning stages of a '39 function at the Club you know how Jim eases the load on your back and at H-hour tells you to be off and have a good time while he watches the door, collects the tickets, salts the potatoes, cranks up the phonograph and puts out the lights at curfew.

This affection for '39 springs from Jim's innate ability to recognize quality, and the fact that he attended kindergarten just about the same time we did. When we were madly paddling our canoes up the Connecticut to Hanover, Jim was paddling down the Blackstone, eventually to reach the City of Churches and a B.B.A. from St. John's.

In the ensuing years Jim did a wartime hitch as a Coast Guard C.P.0., served as a Special Agent for the F. B.I, between 1950 and 1952, came back to the Club as Assistant Manager when J. Edgar Hoover reluctantly agreed to let the Board of Governors buy up his contract, took graduate work at Cornell's school of hotel management and then, last June, became the Club's manager.

Shouting huzzah and banzai upon this momentous occasion were Jim's charming Marie and their charming five-year old twins, Kevin and Patricia, down at the family manse in Yorktown Heights, N. Y.

Also shouting h. and b. was the governing body of our Great Class, which knows quality when it sees it. They asked Jim, "Wouldja?" Jim blushed and said, "Oui." And so the Executive Committee in meeting assembled has admitted Jim to all of the rights, honors, mysteries, privileges, and perquisites of membership in the Class of '39. Welcome aboard, James!

And now comes forward my great friend Address Changes and says: Frank A. Farnell, oldest living inhabitant of Attleboro, Mass., has tucked his all into his carpetbag and, keeping the lights of the Southern Cross e'er before his nose, arrived in Mount Holly, N. C., as Asst. Vice President of American & Egird Mills. Col. Bill Parkhill, late of Ann Arbor, Mich., appears to be back in the Pentagon. In any event, he is receiving mail at 5060 N. 37 St., Arlington, Va. Bill Weber, long a cool cucumber in Brookfield, Conn., now may be reached at Hotpoint Co., 5600 W. Taylor St., Chicago, Ill.

Johnnie Wood, practically a fixture in North Billerica, Mass., these many years, is now budget director of Federal Pacific Electric Co. He lays his fire where the blue Pacific rolls relentlessly in, at 400 Wychwood Rd., Westfield, N. J. Sid Birge, finding Box 71 at Tolland, Conn., a mite too right, now gets his mail at R. D. #1, Littitz, Pa. Johnny Osoinach, having learned the Illini at Urbana, is now Vox Clamantis in Deserto at Midwestern U., Wichita Falls, Tex. Address all mail to 4210 McNeil, City. George Sims, has shaken his pelvis out of Shaker Heights. Ohoho, and now is Asst. Prof, of Marketing in the Dept. of Bus. Org. & Operating at U. of Florida, Gainesville.

Comdr. Bart Jones is peering beneath the waves with the Anti-Submarine Defense Force at Norfolk. Col. Willard Morris is attending the Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pa. Dr. Ev Woodman's newest assignment takes him to the Embassy at New Delhi as Director of the India Wheat Loan Educational Exchange Program. Capt. Myles Standish Weston, last heard from at Kingston, in the Plymouth Colony, now may be found at Westover, R.F.D. 1, Flanders, N. J.

Col. Bob Loughry, recently guardian of Cleveland Hts., 0., has gone bye-bye with the 50th F.B.W. (know what that means, don'tcha!). Mail may be sent to A.P.O. 83, N. V., N. Y. Dr. Jack Stewart, tired of the tall prines at Prineville, Ore. is now saying, "Say, Ah!", at Box 346, Riverton, Wyo.

It had been my plan to devote the rest of this month's allotment of points and picas to an eyewitness report of the Big Class Picnic before the Yale game. However, I have a request from the Editor to keep this month's class notes as concise as possible. That is fortunate, for I spent the picnic hour seeing the sights of Greater Bridgeport in a vain attempt to beat the traffic on the Parkway. In the interests of saving space and face let it be said that practically everyone on the Eastern seaboard was there. Before the rain fogged my monocle, I even saw with my own eyes: Moose Wyman, Cornie Miller, Bert MacMannis, Al Ley, Charlie Neer, Jim Parks (on his way back to Leopoldville, Belgian Congo) Fred Doll, Jack Haverfield, Rodg Harrison, Bill Webster, Bob MacLeod, Walt Darby, Jordan Olivar, Dick Winterbauer, Paul Lynch, Gene Coker....
