With winter well established, one can appreciate the comments of Dave Langdon, partner of Pictorial Properties, Inc., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. "We can't recommend Florida living too highly and shudder at the thought of snow, ice, sleet, slush, etc. As Floridians say, 'A bird in the sand is worth two in the slush'." Dave occasionally sees Jordan Thorn '43 but no '42's. Anyone looking for some Florida real estate? Perhaps Ed Leslie might be interested, having moved to Miami in October where I understand he is working for Fincher Oldsmobile as a salesman.

And moving in the opposite direction is Martin Kleckner Jr., who brought his family north from New Orleans, where he had been an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Louisiana School of Medicine. Kleck has established a private practice of Gastroenterology in Hartford, Conn., and assumed an assistant professorship of clinical medicine at Yale University School of Medicine Incidentally, if you want to know what kind of practice this is, I looked it up and found it covers diseases of the liver, esophagus, stomach, pancreas and intestines. Back to private practice goes Russ Greer who has been stationed at the USAF Hospital at Plattsburg, N. Y. A most happy fella is Russ as he writes "drop the Major and just say Doctor."

Returning to Hanover as of last December is Bob Emerson in the capacity of resident planner on the staff of Adams, Howard and Greeley, a Cambridge, Mass., firm which is under contract for Hanover's planning effort. Bob brings with him a wealth of experience which started with his Master's degree in city planning at MIT and work in many cities across the country including Cleveland, Ohio, Fresno, Calif., and his most recent location, Manchester, N. H.

From Winchester to Wellesley went Ed Doty with his family while he continues as personnel director for Sylvania Electric Products, Inc. in Waltham, Mass. Another fall mover was Bob Hill, from Waban to South Hamilton, Mass. Bob has now accepted the executive directorship of the North Shore Children's Friend Society where he has been executive secretary. In Marion, Mass., is John W. (Bill) Smith Jr. who moved in from Winchester and is doing work in the Mutual Fund field. In Athol, Mass., Doug Starrett was appointed executive vice-president of the L. S. Starrett Co., manufacturers of fine tools. Doug returned to the company following the war as a methods engineer and rose to the position of vice-president in charge of plant operations, prior to this appointment.

Harrison Hoffman was recently named assistant to the President of the Foreign Policy Association, Inc. in New York City. He had been with the Association, a national educational organization, for over two years as assistant to the vice-president. Harrison came to the Association after five years as executive director of the United World Federalists in Pennsylvania.

Milt Williams, who went with Fairchild Publications, Inc. in 1946, has been named circulation director and will manage these activities for all the Fairchild publications, seven in number. They include such publications as Daily News Record, Retailing Daily (for which Milt had acted in the capacity of news editor until his recent appointment), Supermarket News and Electronic News.

For the past year, Bill Miller has been a seller for Commerce Clearing House, Inc., producers of topical law reports. In covering his territory, Bill may be seen almost every day in the Grand Central area of New York City. During the fall, Bill and his family visited Bruce and Liz Stephens in Springfield, Mass., where Bruce is controller of Friendly Ice Cream Corp.

The grocery chain o£ American Stores now has as head grocery buyer, C. Dickinson French who had previously spent a number of years as a buyer in the same field with the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. If any of you good housewives would like to know how to make those food dollars go further, perhaps we could ask Dickinson for advice.

Helping Ford Motor Co. to capture a larger share of the automotive market is Dick Godfrey, leaving Teterboro, N. J., for Orchard Park, N. Y., where he will act as assistant district manager for the Ford Sales District in Buffalo.

It is doubtful that the shine has as yet worn off the new home of Charlie and Georgina Close in suburban Berea although they did move in some six months ago. Charlie, as assistant credit manager of the Union Paper and Twine Co., gets into Cleveland almost daily. He periodically sees Wally Meckes, a vice-president of Werner G. Smith Co., division of Archer, Daniels, Midland Co. I find that Dick Burns has managed to stay on top of the shoe business. He is upper leather buyer for the Florsheim Shoe Co. out in Chicago, Ill. And this despite the fact that his two boys are, I'm sure, no easier on shoes than any three and six-year olds. Just ask his wife, Shirley.

The department of product planning at Bell and Howell Co. in Northbrook, Ill., is under the guidance of Dick Higgins. From there, Dick says he runs into Dick Clarke once in awhile as he comes in "to nail us for a million dollar order on behalf of Con- tainer Corp." It sounds as though B and H is really shipping out the merchandise.

Your class treasury, according to the latest report, is still solvent. As a matter of record, Ira Berman reports that dues receipts for this year compare favorably with the past and are equal to last year. Someone must have forgotten to send his check in because we should be ahead of last year. Go over those stubs and if the someone is you, don't delay another day. Besides running a very taut treasury, Ira appears to be in the field of philately. In any event, from Ira via me, his thanks to all the 42's in countries across the seas who responded to his request for foreign stamps for his children. The next thing you can expect is a request for foreign coin, convertible only, please, for his numismatic alter ego.

Can anyone lend us a sleuthing hand in uncovering active addresses for the following classmates: Robert E. Fitch, whose last known location was Bangor, Me., and Peter H. Gault, last active address being Baltimore, Md.? Whatever you have, send it in.

Luis Zalamea '42, Deputy Director of the United Nations Information Center in Buenos Aires, presenting New Year's greetings to Argentine Foreign Minister Luis Costa.

Harry O. Bartlett '42, for eight years with the Connecticut General Life Insurance Company in Hartford, has been made Manager of the Hartford Graduate Center of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
