On Saturday, April 27, Harold "Bishop" Niles and two of his grandsons spent the day in Hanover. Bish drove from Boston with grandson, Theodore Parker, to Proctor Academy, where he picked up Tom Niles, the son of Lou Niles '35. After showing them the college and town, Bish drove back to Boston. Quite a day for one about to attend his fiftieth reunion.
Word has been received of the recent marriage of Arthur Spear to Major Rhea M. Case, U. S. Army Nursing Corps on the staff of the 93rd Div. Evac. Hospital. We all extend our congratulations and best wishes and sincerely hope that they will be at the reunion.
Albert "Rocky" and Mrs. Hazen have recently visited relatives in Lebanon after spending the winter in Florida.
The April issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE contained an article, "Alumni to Honor Richard Hovey," telling of plans for a tribute to be paid to Hovey at his grave in North Andover. The arrangements detailed in this article were very successfully carried out on the date set, May 4, 1957.
Bill Cunningham '19 delivered an oration and wrote an excellent account of the exercises for the Boston Sunday Herald on May 5. In speaking of the investigation concerning the burial of Hovey in North Andover, he wrote:
"Thanks in large measure to the dedication and research of another Dartmouth alumnus, George Liscomb '07, the true facts came to light. Yesterday, 57 years later, on what would have been his 93rd birthday, his 'Men of Dartmouth' for all men of Dartmouth assembled to eulogize him, sing his enduring songs, and dedicate an additional monument to his memory - this one officially installing him as Dartmouth's Poet Laureate."
There were 50 Dartmouth men present and1907 had the largest representation, eight men:Harold Niles, William Smart, Geo. Grebenstein, Harry McDevitt, William Sanborn, Robert Kenyon, William Ahearn, and the manmost responsible for arranging the tribute, our Geo. Liscomb.
By the time that the June issue of theALUMNI MAGAZINE reaches you, our fiftieth reunion will be well under way or past. It canonly be said that more men are promising tobe present and plans are shaping up very well.
