Saturday, June 22, is the big day for the Philadelphia Dartmouth Club's Annual Family Picnic at Jim Tindle's Valley Forge Farm. Last year some 200 turned out on a beautiful sunshiny afternoon for fresh-water swimming, softball, sun bathing, beer, soft drinks, hot dogs, etc. Whether the weather is good or not, we always have a fine time there. Married alumni can bring the whole family; bachelor alumni and undergraduates can bring dates. By now, you will have received in the mail the details and directions to Valley Forge Farm.

As of the time of writing, our team has played its first game in the Philadelphia Interclub Softball League. Unfortunately, they lost, 4-3, to Philadelphia Cricket Club, last year's champions over us in the playoffs. Manager Jack Young '47 commented that we have "a good team" and that the game was a close, seesaw one. He also stated that the team could use more players, particularly with Reunions coming up in June, when several will be out of town. Contact Jack at LOcust 8-2131.

Jim Tindle '36 also played host to the young men accepted for the Class of 1961 and their fathers on Sunday afternoon. May 19. English Instructor and Coach of Crew Thaddeus Seymour, alumni club officers, enrollment workers, and interviewers were on hand to meet the fledgling Indians. This annual event always proves an occasion for much satisfaction on the part of those alumni who do the enrollment and interviewing work in the Philadelphia area. The caliber of those selected for Dartmouth from this area demonstrates the quality of work these alumni are doing.

The Club's number of dues-paving members is breaking all records this year. Many of them, including quite a few new members, attended our second annual Stag Night at the Dartmouth-Princeton Club on Friday evening. May 24. The program included cards, beer, a German-style buffet, and an opportunity to renew the Dartmouth fellowship.
