This will be Brief, and for two reasons. A change in policy will make 600 words an aim point for class notes. We will just headline, and relay to Mart's Newsletter detail of all items of interest to the class only.
Reunion was so wonderful—our best, I think. How in the world I ever agreed to finish the gauntlet of 1914 jobs is hard to understand. Ellsworth Buck is the culprit accountable, but he has done so much for the class and the college, and I did not have the heart to turn him down.
Back to Reunion: What would one be without irreplaceable Win Snow? Right up to the farewell luncheon, he had a project, circulating for signatures for a card to his buddy, Jim Margeson. This response from Jim: "Thanks for your part in the message from Hanover at reunion. The signatures of good friends and the view of my Freshman room in Reed Hall made us wish that we had been there."
Retirements. Top item these days. Bino Knight in May. Jesse Stillman in May after 41 years with DuPont. Lize Wheelock in July after 27 years as Minister of the Church of the Highlands. Charlie Duke leaves New Haven for travel on the Coast and then the spot seems to be Fort Lauderdale. Jack Reardon at Taft School. Talk with any Taft man for an understanding of his job done there. Unfortunately, the day was perfect on my last visit to Watertown and Jack was on the golf course, by habit. I will schedule travel in rain or snow next time.
Plaques and citations were given to 30 exOmahans at a dinner in Omaha's new Civic Auditorium on March 18. The occasion was the presentation of the all America City to Omaha by the National Municipal League. Over 3000 attended dinner, and awards for outstanding citizenship were given to honor guests. Our Sig Larmon was one of them, for his service as a member of U. S. Advisory Commission on Information and, recently, a special representative of President Eisenhower.
