Scant scribbles this month tossed together before departure for Hanover hoping the Big Green may pulverize Penn. Not too much news but at least it's all cheerful.

Even have a real scoop with a picture. Required genuine reportorial ingenuity to get it first for these notes. Had to contend with numerous news weeklies, national picture periodicals and a score of women's magazines particularly those for teenagers. They all wanted it but '22 got it first. There they are: Four members of the college golf team our senior year, demonstrating the advances of geriatrics or how to age gracefully. Too bad the other two members of the team, captain Red Boyd and Frank Sheehy '24, were not with the foursome when it got together at the Needham Golf Club last summer. The quartet even claims respectable scores and boasts 18 holes under self generated steam without the aid of electric carts. Only proves some people believe everything they say and expect others to believe it too.

Dagnabit, thought some names were missing last month when bouquets were deservedly tossed to twoters working diligently on the Capital Gifts Campaign. Now, trying to make reportorial amends: Ed McNamara is busy as a beaver in the Hartford area and Dr. Ed Pullen is similarly active in the Greenwich-Stamford area. Won't bet there are not others also.

Bill Mann, after 30 years in government service, has retired from his duties as Business Analyst for the U. S. Department of Commerce. He is now a principal in Overseas Marketing Associates, consultants in international business with correspondents principally in Western Europe and Latin America. Bill and Betty continue to live in West Newton and son John is a freshman at Hanover.

Art Stewart has been appointed postmaster at Durham, N. H. In addition to his theatre business, Art has been town clerk for 11 years and tax collector for 17 years. He also served as president of the New Hampshire Tax Collectors' Association and he was one of the incorporators of the Durham Trust Co.

Massachusetts historian, our Charles S. Tapley was the main speaker when the Calvary Episcopal Church of Danvers, Mass., celebrated its 100th anniversary. Charlie's subject was "Highlights of 100 years."

The quote of the month comes from Modie Spiegel via Forbes Magazine of July 1: "When you're 93 years old it's time to settle , wn " Forbes hastens to say Modie was not sneaking of himself (only age 57) but of his business, Spiegel, Inc. Forbes also says the company under Modie's guidance is in fine fiscal fettle with sales for the first five months of iqh8 up considerably - despite what was then the recession - over the same period a year ago. Leaving Forbes, classmates eager to Lnuire Spiegel stock are earnestly requested fo consult their brokers and not to deluge Modie with letters. He's busy managing the third largest mail order business m the country. Besides, he's working on the Capital Gifts Campaign.

As further proof none of us are 93 years old, Twoters continue to move around. New addresses:

Bills for class dues have been sent out by our treasurer, Carroll Dwight. Wonder if all Twoters know that in addition to paying for the ALUMNI MAGAZINE and for minor incidental expenses, receipts from dues enable the class to participate in the Memorial Book Program at the College Library. When a classmate passes away the Director of Special Collections at the Library is notified and the class secretary sends a memorial card to bur classmate's wife or next of kin. The card reads: "In the Name of Our Beloved Classmate (name inscribed), the Class of 1922 has contributed to a Fund for the Purchase of Rare and Beautiful Books to be placed in the Dartmouth College Library; A Suitable Volume will carry our Classmate's Name inscribed upon its Bookplate as a Living Memorial."

Now, off to Hanover to see our Big Green.
