The Dartmouth Alumni Association of Dayton held a special meeting on December 28 to which were invited all prospective Dartmouth students in this area. Eighteen prospects, fourteen of them with their fathers, attended the luncheon. In addition, seven of the present undergraduates from the Dayton area were there, as well as many of the local alumni.
Drinks were served, followed by lunch and then a meeting. For the meeting we were privileged to have Mr. Robert D. Funkhouser '27, Comptroller at Dartmouth, give a short talk on the College. We certainly appreciated his interest in attending and we feel his presence added a great deal to the effect of the meeting.
The movie of the varsity football games of '57 was shown and enjoyed by all. Ken De-Haven Nil. Captain of the Freshman squad, gave us a brief rundown of the graduating seniors and the prospects for the '58 season.
Harry Jeffrey Jr., '59, volunteered information on the various R.O.T.C. units at the College and additional information in the form of a brochure titled "Dartmouth College —Purposes and Opportunities" was distributed to the high school seniors.
It was agreed by the membership that this meeting was thoroughly worthwhile, as well as quite successful, and did much to promote the name of Dartmouth in this area. We were certainly gratified, not only at the large turnout of these prospects, but, also, at the top-notch quality of the boys themselves.
We are happy to be one of the cities selected for a Glee Club Concert this year. The Club will be here for a concert and dance to be given at the Biltmore Hotel on March 25. Any out-of-town alumni who might be in the area on this date are cordially invited to attend.
