I make a special appeal to all of you to look into the activities of local Dartmouth clubs, and to participate in their activities. This is the best way for '56ers to learn of others who have experienced the same four-year period in Hanover. The friendships awaiting us in the Alumni clubs can prove tremendously worthwhile, if we enter with true friendship as a goal - not reluctant acceptance of just a place to go for wild and hilarious times. As you scan your college career, I am sure you realize that not one of us ever exhausted all that Dartmouth offered. The Alumni clubs now present a chance to keep in mind all those things you consider are yet to be actively learned from the fellowship of Dartmouth men.

The Dartmouth Alumni Fund campaign began April 1. Watch the dates and watch your purse - you know what to do from here. Glen French, who did a great job last year, turns the duties of Class Agent over to Jim Flynn. That's like having Mantle sick and having to substitute a Ted Williams. Yet. his success will be measured by your reaction to an obligation. That obligation is to make Dartmouth strong enough financially to challenge what she must. This may seem like "corn" to some but just remember it took a few bucks to establish what we have come to know as the Big Green. In short, something does not come from nothing.
